Oak Street Road Bore

Project Owner: Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community
Project Type: Design-Bid-Build
Construction Dates: 05/17 to 05/17

The team of Pimara Construction and Achen-Gardner Construction provided a new “tee” on an existing 12” waterline then employed a trenchless directional drilling approach to install 127 LF of 6” fused HDPE pipe which was connected to the new “tee”. This methodology avoided removal and patching of an existing asphalt roadway and minimized traffic impacts to local motorists. The project was located on Oak Street one quarter mile west of Stapley Drive.

Several layers of river rock and caliche were encountered during the drilling process but our team successfully completed the pipe installation on schedule and within budget. This waterline is of critical importance as it will serve as both fire protection and domestic water service supply for new homes to be built in the area.
