We came, we saw, we conquered. Our mighty team pulled a 100,000 pound plane 15 feet in 6.2 seconds.
On October 8, 2010, Achen-Gardner Construction won the seventh annual US Airways / City of Phoenix Jet Pull held at the US Airways hangar at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
A total of 19 teams (20 members each) competed in the event which raised approximately $7,000 for the Community Service Fund Drive’s United Way Campaign. The goal was to pull a 50-ton Arizona Cardinals team plane 15 feet across the tarmac in the shortest amount of time. It was a close race, but Achen-Gardner won the first place trophy with a pull time of 6.2 seconds.
“We love these type of events," said Achen-Gardner Team Captain and Vice President Dan Spitza. "They are great for team building, supporting our agency partners at City of Phoenix DCM and Aviation, and giving back to the community through The United Way. Oh yeah, and it never hurts if you win too.”
Congratulations to all of the teams for participating in this fun-filled charity event.
