Scenario 16B Transmission Main Improvements

Project Owner: City of Phoenix
Project Type: Construction Manager At Risk
Construction Dates: 12/19 to 03/20

This project included the self-performed slipline rehabilitation of approximately one mile of 60” PCCP transmission main using a 56” steel liner. Our team worked closely with the City and Wilson Engineers to evaluate pipe rehabilitation technologies and alternative routes for relocation of the main. We evaluated options to remove and replace using ductile iron or steel pipe, realign the main, or rehabilitate using steel sliplining. Together we determined that steel slipline rehabilitation was the best option. The team also analyzed different possibilities for the location of access pits in order to minimize public impact and improve constructability.
