This project includes water and sewer infrastructure improvements in public right-of-way throughout the City of Scottsdale. Work involves the installation of new sewer lines, water lines, removal and replacement of sewer and water mains, manhole construction and reconstruction, demolition of existing water and sewer facilities, large diameter valve installation/replacement, and associated apparatus. Highlights include:

Scottsdale Road Water Line Abandonment: We removed a tee from an existing 12” water line, installed a new in-line valve, and abandoned the 12” water line at Scottsdale Road and Mayo Boulevard. This work was completed at the same time as other CMAR projects in the area. Utilizing our JOC and coordinating this work to occur during previously-planned water shutdowns and traffic control setups allowed us to save cost for the City.

Mary Katherine Water Line: We replaced water lines in a residential neighborhood along Mary Katherine Drive and portions of Cholla Drive. This project is located in a high-profile area and requires extensive coordination with individual homeowners to determine private service locations, minimize impacts to private property, coordinate necessary water shutdowns, and obtain homeowner approvals prior to construction. Services needed to be installed in the residents’ backyards, requiring our team to evaluate and understand existing conditions, including underground utilities, sprinkler systems, and necessary restorations. We received sign-offs from each homeowner approving the new service locations. Achen-Gardner completed all the work from the new or existing main to the meter box, and our subcontractor, RKS Plumbing and Mechanical, completed the private-side work from the meter box to the connections in the backyards of the individual homes. In total, the project included more than 2,100 LF of water line (6” and 8”), 9 valves (6” and 8”), and 12 residential services.
