Gateway Signage on Mill Avenue: This job order played a key role in enhancing the identity and ongoing revitalization of the Mill Avenue corridor, and work was completed in collaboration with our Downtown Streetscape Improvements - Mill Avenue, Rio Salado Parkway to University Drive, Phase 2 CMAR project. Our team completed drilled pier shaft foundations, hoisted and placed reinforced steel cages, furnished and placed concrete, and managed excavated spoils to support the installation of a new overhead, illuminated “Mill Avenue” sign. Spanning the roadway from the east sidewalk to the west sidewalk between 7th Street and University Drive, the south-facing sign creates a striking gateway feature for Downtown Tempe. The project also included hardscape removal and restoration, concrete flatwork, and the installation of electrical infrastructure We delivered a durable, visually impactful landmark that strengthens the corridor from University Drive to Rio Salado Parkway. Scope included:

  • 28 CY structural concrete

  • 47 SY concrete paving

  • 30 LF curb and gutter

  • 332 SF sidewalk

Emergency Repair at College Avenue and 14th Street: We provided an emergency response for the City of Tempe to address a leaking irrigation system. Our crews removed a damaged standpipe and a section of channel to facilitate repairs, using a small trackhoe and hydroexcavation truck to minimize the work footprint and safely excavate the area. We dewatered the line with pumps, allowing the damaged irrigation gate to be removed and clearing the channel of debris for City inspection. The standpipe was reinstalled on its platform, secured with grout, and the area was backfilled before final compaction. In addition, a 36” irrigation valve riser was straightened and a bent valve was removed to prepare for a future City installation. The scope included eight cubic yards of structural concrete and 10 LF of 12” to 24” standpipe.

Manholes for Assessment: This job order included installing five new manholes and taps (6” & 2”) on a water line in Priest Drive to facilitate a future assessment of the line. We also installed a manhole at the Scottsdale Road and Curry Road intersection.

Emergency Repair at Rio Salado Parkway and McClintock Drive: This job order included an emergency repair and roadway restoration at the intersection of Rio Salado Parkway and McClintock Drive. We utilized our hydro-excavation truck to investigate a reported water leak. We identified the cause of the leak as a damaged 3/4-inch water service line that had been impacted by third-party construction activities. We completed abandonment of the service, slurry backfill, asphalt restoration, and final roadway repair.
